Born and raised in the Philippines,  Marv
Velando was always surrounded by color  from
gardens  and  details  from  medical  book
illustrations.

Self-taught, a Montessori education from
kindergarten to  high-school   helped  nurture
her  artistic  gifts.

As  an Arts and Letters  freshman at  the
University  of  the  Philippines  Diliman,  Marv
was  nominated  to  the  AIKOM  Program  in
1994.   Instead of going  to  the University of
Tokyo,  art  took  a  sidestep  when she  was
also awarded a  scholarship to  the College of
Economics and Management.   In 1999,  Marv
graduated  with a Bachelors of Science at  the
Los  Baños  campus and moved to the United
States.
With  time's passing,  she  rekindled  her
passion in the Arts. As a professional,  Marv
has experience  in health care management,
accounting, research and marketing,  for
profit and non profit  organizations  alike.

Personal  joys  include her Catholic faith,
extended family, cooking,  plus  a  challenge
to run all  top  ten  world marathons. Starting
with Chicago '03 and NYC '04, next on her list
are the Honolulu and Berlin marathons.

With her best friend
Nick, New York City,
Chicago, and Manila are home.
